Re: HP Lovecraft and overrated writers

I've found Rice to have developed her characters by giving each their own story so to read the entire series is dealing with various times and know what's about to happen once in a while. But it's no different than McCaffrey's Pern series where everyone goes off on their own tangents after being int...

Re: HP Lovecraft and overrated writers

Read an anthology of Lovecraft's short stories last summer and near the end of the book, couldn't wait to be done with it. It did seem to have the same theme over and over but the descriptive presentations were good. All involved some slime, eerie mists and definitely weird creatures in ancient aban...

Re: Rape Culture

Unfortunately rape is one sided. Women can't physically rape a man if he's unwilling - the tackle just won't stand up to it. If it were possible, you'd see a huge change because of the equal opportunity. Unwanted sexual contact places a lot of stress on the woman who is initially brought up to belie...

OMG...I'm sitting here having a great laugh out loud at your post Joseph.
We used to try doing that on another forum by chanting "Wombat" to tease any advertising out there mentioning wombats.

That creaking sound...is that the ice leaving or your knees on the pedals after a long winter? Stay in shape and stay in touch here. I see you'll be missed otherwise.

Re: Cougars....what do younger men see in older ladies?

Well this fellow is just about my height so the tall is out the window but the rest is too true (showed a photo of him to a co-worker who is not straight and got "I'd help you with that, girlfriend!") And now that he's turned 40...it's a little more comfortable for me but he had that damn Code of Et...

Re: India's Treatment of Women

I understand men in India aren't as blessed as other parts of the world. Please let me say that has been recently verified as almost true but I have no photographic evidence to present, you'll just have take my word for it. In regards to the new rape in the news where the woman on a minibus was gan...

Well in this situation I can guarantee the experience is there with perfectly honed skills.

Just look at my siggie.... *giggles*

That show "Cougar Town" (I think is the name) is set down the road apiece from me in Venice Florida (with some name changes) Someday I'll have to find and watch it.

Cougars....what do younger men see in older ladies?

I never thought I'd see the day when I would be approached by a guy 17 years younger than me. Totally shocked by this professional man when he whips out his phone and already has my private cell number entered into it. Now I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt not knowing my age because the women ...

Re: NHL 2013 shortened season thread

If only the football teams would do the same....be shut out or whatever it is to keep them off the field. I can't get how hockey is the only sport where they protest and walk off or get locked out. Where's the money in that? You can tell I'm not really into team sports...rather the sport that requir...

Re: India's Treatment of Women

I was totally shocked to read of this event and am at a loss why men view the women as easy prey. Religion is a nasty thing when twisted and perverted to serve men's needs and provide excuses for their behavior. But then I remember in the '60s when the rapes in this country went up, it was because t...

Re: What in the, soon Christmas

I'm sitting here reading on the net from friends how they think it's deplorable how the retailers are having people work starting Thursday evening (Thanksgiving Day here in the US) to be ready for the lemmings on Friday at the stroke of midnight. I certainly would never consider camping out in front...

Re: Faded away

I still peek in now and then....

And if anything happened to me....I don't think too many would know... I don't have my passkeys laying around. Maybe I should write and stash them somewhere ...like with the last will and testament I have yet to get to.

Re: What's in your DVD collection?

ahhhh...right now building up

Midsomer Murders

When it's all done, and John Nettles is finished, it'll be 75 discs.
And that's just for starters.

I'm too lazy to count them all in the closet at the moment but I think it must number near 300? Hard to tell with those slim jewel cases
