I haven't bought a CD in ages. I did get the soundtracks for The Two Towers and Return Of The King for Christmas, and I'm loving those. But I think I'm at yet another turning point in my musical tastes. I've a CD collection in excess of 1300 titles, and I don't even listen to a dozen of them. It's t...

I'm wondering about the level of maintained interest in a melee character, and if there's enough to keep such a character intriguing for the run of the game. Often, a melee character gets dead boring after a while, and one wishes for more "diversity". Being able to cut down one'e enemies in a hurry ...

Thanks for the input, Pinky, it's definately appreciated. I've chosen to take the tech route, unless I suddenly hit upon a really appealing magic-user build. Right now, it's simply trying to decide how my 5 character points will be allocated. I'm planning on going with a Dwarf technologist, and I kn...

Thanks so much for the help and time Spider! I think I've got the basics of the, er, arcane system figured out, so now it's mere decision-making. I tried checking the Terra Arcanum site, but it's currently down. I did find another one on the Fileplanet site which is excellent. I had no idea there we...

The Fall is an RPG very much in the vein of Fallout. It doesn't look as complex, but the idea is very similar.

Usually when a developer is up to something they don't outright say "No, we're not doing that". Given Feargus' customary vagueness, to say rather decidedly that they are not working with Bioware does suggest he's telling the truth. Doesn't mean they won't be working on KOTOR 2, they're just not doin...

Wow! Good job, Puuk! That was fast re-employment.

Do keep us posted on what you're doing over there.

When the game makes a skillcheck it adds 1-20 points (and maybe something from the required attribute as well, but I'm not sure about that). Ok, that's something I can get my mathematically-disadvantaged brain around ;) Each "point" is actually 4 points added to a skill check, so even a half rank i...

I love interviews with Feargus; he's so diplomatic and evasive, nothing of any substance is ever said ;) Hopefully Obsidian will release something good, but I certainly won't run out and buy it because it comes from them. However, the studio looks to be about the best hope for rejuvenating the cRPG ...

Just speculation.

Basically the skill system is a base 20 system. Ie skills range from 1-20. Originally you were supposed to increase skills one point at the time but then they came up with characters only gaining one point for each level. So in order to make one point in a skill as useful as a point in an attribute...

The extended versions add in about 45 minutes of extra movie (not extra scenes, but extra incorporated content) which I find really fills in a lot of gaps. Particularly in The Two Towers which had a lot of choppy editing in the theatrical version, but the replaced material removes that choppiness an...

I think just no bonus. However keep in mind that the system was originally designed with 20 skill levels which was then streamlined to 5 so 1 point gives quite a large bonus. The skill system is bit confusing as the manual doesn't really explain it at all. So far the best I've been able to work out...

Trying to dabble in both magic and tech is generally a bad idea. It'll make both things worse. The higher your magic rating is the more effective your spells will be and vise verca... Which is a shame. It looks like some magic and tech would compliment each other nicely. I have a couple of question...

I agree with the first one being the best, it's also the only one I found better the second time I saw it. The battle with the Witch-King was pathetic and quite a disappointment for me, it seemed way too casual to be anything spectacular. When you watch the last two movies in a row, you really star...
