Alien vs. Predator

Post by MERLANCE » Fri Aug 13, 2004 7:09 pm

Well, I went and saw it today, matinee showing.

It sucked. The plot was paper thing, it was very cliche, and the action sequences werent that good.

I recently heard one of the reasons action scenes aren't so great, and many people complain "Oh thats not what a predator would do." is because the predators are 'teenagers' and are performing some sort of ceremonial rite into adulthood and that's why they are not as efficient as the predators in the other movies.

Is it possible that a movie could be made that is cooler than AVP2?

Short Answer: Yes

Aliens fighting predators, in theory, is sound. Teenage predators being killed by aliens is far less cool.

A predator army vs. intelligent aliens would be neat.

but a good, cool movie will not happen in this fashion.

Hope for Revenge of the Sith to be good! I would buy my tickets already, but they are not yet on sale. :( its only 9 months away!

AvP made enough money that chances are there will be a AvP2 in the near future.

As for Revenge of the Sith... if it's anything like that last 2 Star Wars movie, it will be an awfull movie at best.

Star Wars discussion belongs in an AvP thread. All we need now is to talk about League of Extrodinary Gentlemen and Unerworld and we'll have just about covered everything.

i must say i liked LXG pretty much, not for the story and the manipulation of history/literature, but it was just a entertaining action party movie...

My mistake was that I was a huge fan of the comic. So, that was dumb of me to walk into the movie expecting equally wonderful things. Different, but equally cool. And I thought Blade was a fine, entertaining film, so that boosted my expectations along with the amazing cast.

I set myself up to be let down. HARD. Just like Hellboy.

Just saw it on rental.

I nearly fell asleep, so I watched the extended version too, for some extended sleep.

Think the 5 second 1904 intro is extra...or did I just miss that in the first. Likely.

The efx and combat are ok, but that's not a reason to watch, imo. No reason really to watch this. The acting, dialogue and story is horribly void of talent. Next time: Use real actors and hire a story writer.
