Dick Cheney misses bird, hits fellow hunter
Last Updated Sun, 12 Feb 2006 16:01:38 EST
CBC News

U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney shot and wounded a 78-year-old fellow hunter during a Texas quail shoot, the Associated Press reports.

Harry Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, the state capital, was described as "alert and doing fine" in hospital after being sprayed with shotgun pellets on Saturday at the Armstrong Ranch in south Texas.

Ranch owner Katharine Armstrong said Cheney turned to shoot a bird and accidentally hit Whittington, AP reported. She said Whittington was taken to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
Like I said, I shouldn't laugh. But I am. Too bad it wasn't GWB out hunting with him.

Well, the bird might have been in possession of weapons of mass destruction, like bird flu or something

Guns don't kill people, vice presidents kill people.

^ Damn close.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4714264.stm

The man Chenney shot suffered a minor heartattack.

Is anyone surprised? He's 78 years old, just got shot by the VP of the US of A and, according to doctors, will have the little lead pellets in his body for the rest of his life.

Also, there's some criticism about the time it took the Chenney camp to publically report the incident.

I can understand that though. It's completely plausible. They want to get the "facts straight" before hand. Conflicting stories are bad press.

Look at the bright side...

a) Being 78, he is only going to suffer for a short while.
b) He is a friend of Dick Cheneys.

Indeed. He's suffered long enough one would think.

Oh hey... I forgot the very best part of all this:
It has emerged that Mr Cheney, an experienced hunter, did not have the correct licence for shooting quail...

Perhaps his lawyer friend met all three criteria...?

Carrying a gun (Check!)
Wearing olive drab (Check!)
A Casio wristwatch (Perhaps, looks japanese... Boom!... just making sure)

Or maybe he got tired of all the old lawyer jokes.
