The Death Song

Post by abbie21 » Fri Jun 18, 2004 10:48 pm

I sit here in this lonely room
Dark as can be
And for the first time in my life
I feel totally free

No more shouting voices,
No more anger
No more pain, no more suffering
Totally free

Don’t cry for me at my funeral
Don’t you dare shed one tear
Just remember I am happy
And where I want to be

Remember all the good things
And maybe some of the bad
Remember how I made you laugh
Remember when we were sad

For I am free
Eternal calm
Eternal peace and glee
Remember me for who I was
And I will be eternally happy

Suicide can feel like the answer to all our pains. Contemplating it can bring some happiness, although it's a fickle kind of happy. I wonder what the main character decided to do... Are the two poems linked? Suicidal happiness and then finding real happiness?
