Games that runs smoothly on Pentium 1?

Post by Cladius » Sun Dec 21, 2003 9:33 pm

So, Im back at my parents home for the holiday and I finds that I have almost nothing to do...

And then I see the solution.. the old computer! All I need now is a few good games and the boredom is at end. The question is then, what was your favorite games 1994-1997?

It would be nice if they where abondonware but if not, tell me anyway.

If I don´t find any games I suppose I will have to hang around on different forums, lurking and occasionally post something... not so bad when I think about it... 8)

Wing Commander 3, 4 and 5.

Or even better 1 and 2, provided you can find a speed limited version.
Requested: One Mark V ECM unit, 1000 km of Fullerene cable, one low-yield nuclear warhead.

Purpose: Surprise party for foreign dignitary.

Zork Nemesis. It's one of my favorites and it can't handle new hardware or Windows XP.

I also liked Worlds of Xeen and Stonekeep.

Let's see, what else did we have back then? I liked Civ 2 and it should work on your old system.

Wing Commander... that series was really popular and I never played it. Dammit!
i guess someone will quote this making it utterly pointless, but there, it's been said
Heathen!

The game that singlehandedly incorporated storytelling into space sims.

The one game that needed a 386 to play right when it came out. Ahh...
good old times...

Oh, play some C&C. There's nothing like a good, old fashioned tank rush.

I have to say that Wing Commander 2 with the speech pack would rock. Or Privateer! Day of the tenticle?

The original Diablo. You'd be surprised how fast the hours fly by when you play single player. Bnet is mostly all hackers now, but the single player is great!

Heroes of Might & Magic I and II (II worked on my 486, albeit slowly, so it's bound to work on a Pentium I). Warcraft II. Fifa International Soccer.
NEW! Trivia: The Black Hound featured a scene in which a herd of sheep suddenly turns into high-level druids.

Dark Forces was one of my first real favorites... Jedi Knight ran on my P1, but I couldnt get any sound.

Age of Empires was fun back then. Especially with the expansion. Rome was cool.

Castle of the Winds I and II (1 game, 2 parts... First part was shareware). You can download it all overr the web if you do a search for it. It snot abandonware, though. Abandonware is a nonexistant term, so I hear.

I have to give a shout out to Sim City 2000 and Lords of Magic, as well.
