I have the opposite problem. It hurts my eyes, squinting so much, when reading the microscopic text. Ever considered a downloadable PDF alternative to the E-Zine? :?

(on a 2560x1600 resosultion browser, the zine sort of disappears in the middle)

Hey, it is very hard to spell with those small letters...

Actually, I am at work right now, so it is just a small laptop screen. Switching back and forth between my "hidden" browser and work applications makes for some weird writings occasionally.

Yes, Ls, we have two templates. Yes it works. And no, it has never deactivated anyone's account.

As for PDFs, Gorth, maybe someday. But as I have a personal hatred for PDFs, it won't be anytime soon. That and I see no point it putting extensive effort into a site where the response from members doesn't warrant it.

There are plenty of things I'd like to add/upgrade:

New forum software and an option allowing guest comments on the ezine content.

A proper webdesigner (as opposed to what dousi rightfully terms a rotating cast of freelancers), and by designer I mean someone with coding and graphics.

A graphic artist to help with the look of the ezine because my PS skills are limited.

A committed team of contributors/staff helping grow and promote the ezine.

As I've said many times, the site/ezine could be so much more than it is but I don't have the aptitude and technical skills to do it alone. And I don't have the money to pay others so I have to beg for help. I'm a writer. Not a coder or designer. I can edit existing sites but can't code from scratch.

As for, now three of you, complaining about size. Again, all I can say is a font size of 10 is pretty standard. And I'm sure you're all aware that most sites are coded to work for the average reader/resolution. People who use extremes at either end are, unfortunately, outside that equation.

PS: It's a shame that comments about the font size of the ezine are more forthcoming than comments about the articles themselves. You guys make me sad. I'm going to cry now. :(

You need to cry in all UPPERCASE, otherwise we can't hear you

Not complaining, just feed-backing. That is afterall part of the thread title :look:

Some rather interesting and positive notes here:

First, and this is confusing:

Our total traffic to the site in July was the highest we've recorded since June 2008. The confusion stems from the fact that the reads of the ezine weren't the highest. So... :?

But still good news.

And more good news... there's life in these forums yet.

Magnus is back and on a mission to increase his post count.

dousi cracked the 4000 post plateau.

Runey cracked 3000.

AKJ cracked 1500

And Lord sadness has almost double his post count of the first four years in the past few months.

And we've even got a few new members on the forums. So smile away folks. Keep it up and let's try to get more members and more activity. And two more members give us 300. :)

I'm liking the idea of pdf-format for the e-zine.
Was even thinking it myself even before reading Gorth's post. I would like a Flash-version better, but I don't know flash. Yet.

Hate both PDF and flash, so colour me quite pleased with the zine as it is. I think The Escapist jumped the shark when they went from their old Winterwindy layout to the current one.
I do bugger-all, but that's OK;
I sleep all night, and I read all day!

Indeed. Mattias (Spider) showed me the Escapist as an idea of what he felt the ezine should look like when we first came up with the idea of doing one. It was one of the few things we ever agreed upon.

And, interesting to note, we've had those Amazon ads on the site since last December. This week, we just had our first order: Two Doctor Who episodes. :)

And, of all things, VHS, not DVD.

Now, if we could just get more orders, more consistently, then we could put some money into the site and forums, having the main site done by a designer so it's visually appealing as opposed to strictly function and maybe switching to vBulletin instead of phpBB.

Well, I can dream, can't I?

Well, I've posted about the fall issue in my usual places (which now includes facebook).

And we'd all appreciate it if some of you folks would help spread the word. The ezine keeps getting better so hopefully the traffic and activity here improve with it.

Sig links and simple word of mouth work wonders. :)

Word of mouth? That's rich. Now you speak the word. I bet you wish you hadn't ignored or laughed at me, when I suggested getting a sound mod-plugin for this site so long ago, it's exactly what we need.. What took you so long?

edit: No Runey, I don't need to prepare for that, it's straight from the horses mouth and if you don't believe that I got a half-empty bottle of schnaps to proof it.
