UNDER CONSTRUCTION

the planets of the system from closest to sun to furthest:

Isid - distance from sun 75 million km, diameter 6000km, has no atmosphere. temp 38-600 celsius, very slow rotation around itself. not regularly inhabited. is used as a station for energy manufacture, host to arrays of solar panels.

Saun - (orbit 110Mkm,diameter 4000km) no atmosphere, temp 20-200 celsius moderate rotation around self. inhabited by some scientific expeditions every now and then.

the 3 human planets which run
Dinal - (188Mkm,11000km) atmosphere similar to Cetrin, temp -5-50C. inhabited mostly human, mostly agricultural, source of all agricultural product in system

Cetrin - (200Mkm,17000km) earth like atmosphere temp, -30-60C. Human native planet. currently mostly deserted due to an meteor hit, inhabits mostly humans who "oppose" SEC(will be explained later)

Afel - (220Mkm,10000km) earth like atmosphere after some modifications done, temp -80-48C. current human home planet, cozy home for humans, partly industrialized

Baurin - (444Mkm,9900km) dense atmosphere with a low oxygen percentage temp 0-140C, the very cloudy and stormy home of the genetically created Faek

Rouhes - (687Mkm,117000)temp ~-90C gas giant in close orbit to the systems great asteroid fields evry so often collides with a few and throws a few others flying around (not a very safe place)

Murban - (862Mkm,36000km) no atmosphere, temp -40->-110C, cold and quite planet home to many Lithian mines and science labs

Lithia - (912Mkm,8000km) atmosphere suitable for lithians, temp-15->-100, Lithian native planet and home world

Odium - (1744Mkm,46000km)no atmosphere, temp~-220C fast rotation around self. large chunk of rock and ice covered by a layer of frozen oxygen

Passek - (5648Mkm,5100km) no atmosphere, temp~-245C

If you havent been playing ELITE (I, Frontier Elite II or First Encounters) that's a *good* and *vast* source of planets, hehe...

How is this planet stuff related to point of this uh, RP(?)-gaming(?)-thread? :?

it's the beginging of explaining the setting or part of it any way you want to look at it

you may want to read the whole thread and not just the last post

Well, I did read the whole thread the first time, but nowhere, except this small text, did I see anything remote relating to this uh, partially inhabited planetarium:
Ewen Brown wrote:what setting would you like to have it in (initially the setting was a sort of a space merchant "war" scenario" in a small solar system with a few races from different planets, if you're interested)
Anyway, I didnt mean to derail this topic, it just seemed out of place. over and out.

races

Human - not exactly like earth humans but close enough not to consider them different

Shuman(might change name) - humans that have been in space for many generations and have adapted to it, they have a few differences from normal humans due to this. their skin is slightly more delicate, white, red, pink and florescent variations of these colors are not uncommon, but many still retain same skin coloration as normal humans. they have greater radiation resistances and are less likely to suffer from illness related with being space but they are more vulnerable to biological diseases. they are more accustomed to colder conditions than humans as the temp in most stations and ships is regularly colder than the average temperture on Cetrin to which most humans are usually used to.

Lithian - lithians have no defined shape, they are essentially shapeshifters that take a shape that they believe will suit their adjustment into their world the best way. they are made out of basic cells that can theoretically be self sustainable but band together as they find it creates more adjustment possibilities. lithian philosophy has them believing that they are as everything around them, adjustment machines, constantly adjusting to their surrounding enviroment while it also adjusts to them. they will often take a similar shape to whatever creatures they find around them, and so there are many lithians who take on humanoid shape. however they prefer keeping a thick a shape as possible and as such are stockier in form. their color however remains the same greyish white (which makes them look a little like an ice elemental if there was something like that). thier metabolizm is extremely slow (basically, the cells will swap materials from one to the other) so they rarely have to consume anything but their healing rate is also very slow due to this. there are no known lithian diseases, and they're practically immune to radiation effects, but suffer from high temperatures. the way they sense the enviroment isn't exactly like humans but they can identify all the elements of their surounding just as well, in fact a lithian can be condsidered as being able to hear, see and smell from any part of their shape.

Faek - created by a group of "mad" scientists, who left Cetrin in the first years of human space travel, to try and bring life to all the planets, ignoring the existing life on Baurin. these scientists engineered the Faek with plant qualities into their genetic make up, so they could survive better on the surface of Baurin. generally wolf shaped however their legs are longer with joints that go both ways, their bodies are slimmer, and their feet are constructed of 4 "fingers" 3 facing forward and 1 back, they can use these like hands despite usually walking on them. their rather thick skin has elements capable of photosynthesis, and tends to have green tints due to this, it's most common colors are grey brown and orange variations. Faek can grow and shed hair at will very quickly, which helps them adjust to different tempertures. they are usually a little over 4.5' when walking normaly on their 4 legs/hands and when they walk on 2 legs, with the part beneath the knee serving as a foot, they reach about 8'. considered to be the least intelligent of the races though not by much. can move faster than any, except ai robots designed to move quickly.

AI (robots) - unlike robots that work simply based on a simple written program, AIs are only coded at first with a learning program that through expirementation finds the best way to operate. they come in any shape and size. can also have humanoid shape and synthetic skin

Shuman? My response to *that* would be "WTF OMG LOL", or somesuch.

I say you give them some cheesy name like "Outcasts", and throw in some rivalry between the arrogant Earth-born humans (Inspiration = Vault 8, AKA VC)

That should be interesting, especially with a space-born and an earth-born on the same party.

I was actually joking, but if you are serious about links...it's a rather old game with a nearly infinite universe, despite the fact that it only requires about 2MB of disk space.

This is just one of many Solar systems, here Earth.

Economy

SEC - Systems Energy Corporation (Seton Electric Company)what started out as an electric company, is today the most influential economic force in the system. a gigantic power that deals with the trade of everything, not to mention owns almost everything out there, some even say everything including the smallest of street dealers. came to total power after the over taking their great rival GWU (Genral Works Unlimited), after GWU colapse due to destruction on Cetrin from being hit by a meteor. SEC determines the currency prices and values on all products. many consider SEC to be evil but most of the people are happy going as they are.
SEC Main - a giant space station, more like a giant city in space, inhabits about 3 million people, located in orbit around Afel. an undefined generally sphere shaped station which contain residential areas commercial areas and some storage areas, and has 10 giant ship docks, 4 of which serve transport flights, 4 for cargos of all kinds, one for ship construction, and one is constantly under repairs.
SEC Headquarters - sits the in the center of SEC Main, some people entering seeking information have been rumored/reported to get lost forever in the never ending web of bureaucracy.
SEC administrators live happily and quietly on various private resorts on Afel and rarely actually do something. if something needs doing they'll usually just deal with it from where ever they are by sending orders to be carried out by some clerk.

currency - SEC issues credit "cards"(more like memory sticks) in different shapes, which basically store your account information along with the SEC mainframe, transactions are commonly conducted through these. other less common forms of treding include the old i give you this you give me that, and you can produce cards that contain certain amount of credit and trade without the diret knowledge of SEC.

Government - every 2 years there is an election for parlament, which basically serves for nothing as the 220 members are nothing more than SEC puppets these days, no matter what opinions they express. fittingly the parlament is located across from SEC Headquarters. reaching a parlament member, though, is probably easier than reaching anyone influential at SEC.

Technology

Genral -

Artificial Gravety - used in ships and space stations to give inhabitants home like feeling and to avoid their squashing from a ships acceleration. generated by strong magnetic fields.

Universal Energy Cell - most tools that need energy to operate run on UECs. basically very good batteries, tools usually specify how long they can run on or how many uses per UEC. some things run on more than one UEC.

Ship Design - most ships designs are based on connection of hexagonal shaped segments each serving a different purposse together to make one integral ship with small thrusters added at different points of the ship to improve maneuverability, and possibly some weapons. example: navigation segment, residence segment, cargo segment, energy segment, engines segement. ships can reach speeds of up to 100 million km per day travelling in empty space.

Weapons - the most common lethal weapon technologies are gauss weapons and plasma blast weapons. gauss guns are the most common, and there are weapons that incorporate both. however, killing people isn't very poplular, and so there is a variety of nonlethal stun weapons available, usually utilizing electricity in some way. but when someone or something is out to kill you might not want him/it to stick arround in the realm of the living.

Food - most food is generated by food synthesizers. basic synthesized nurishment rations can be obtained freely almost anywhere. there are vending machine like units that produce them spread out where ever people are commonly present. you can also get cheap synthesized food in such manner for a small price, it doesn't taste as good as the real thing but comes close (for those moments when you just have to have chicken). real grown food is attainable at resteraunts which import it from Dinal and costs more.

Thermo Suits - nice tight comfortable suits that have microtubes in them and along with a small energy cell function as a worn airconditioner allowing humans to tough out harsher temperatures or just feel more comfortable in others. humans will often use these in space stations to feel warmer, shumans and humans willl most likely use them for cooling when on a warm planet.
