We have a psionicist (went retro there), a fighter, a rogue, and maybe an Anti Paladin (Paladin of Tyranny). I've given up on trying to contact Doomthreat for the time being.

Races are as normal. If you really really really want to be a +1 LA race, fine, you just won't level up at level 2. Be whatever class you want.

+1 level adjustment. Can't think of any examples, but it's usually a race that starts out with some kind of innate magical ability, and with no particular drawback to balance it out. As such, they count as being one level higher than they actually are, and need more XP to level up, compared to your garden-variety races,

Tiefling, Aasimar, Genasi, Githyanki, Goliath are examples of +1 LA races. They are a bit more powerful than regular races, like they have unbalanced ability scores or some minor spell like abilities.

For example, Aasimar have +2 wisdom, +2 charisma and can cast daylight or something. Since they have a net bonus of +4 to ability scores instead of like +2 dex -2 con like an elf... that gives em +1.

Ah, yes. My only experience with them was IWD2.

Trying to finish my guy off right now. Isn't there a maximum numbers of points you can put into a skill per level?

Also, pretty much decided on two-weapon fighting. So, rough math here... with the two-weapon feat, plus the weapon focus feat on both (one being a sword, the other a dagger) and with the one hand being a light weapon, with my strength and attack bonus that pretty much negates the penalties for dual wielding doesn't it?

Merl, as I recall, we're from/starting in a port city. I noticed scimitars on the d20 site but no sabres of cutlasses (which should be plentiful in a port city). While I don't remember the exact stats from back in the day, they are essentially the same type of weapon so what's your word on that. I just don't want a cliche long sword. A sabre and dagger is what I'm seeing for my fighter, like Artemis Entreri (minus the evil assassin bit).

Max points per skill is 4 at level 1, with 1 more point/level.

As for 2W-fighting, the SRD has a nice table summarising the various modifiers.

Yeah, that's what I was looking at. So, with the feat, and the off-hand weapon a light one, I'd be -2/-2. With one point each for weapon focus, as I understand it, that would make it -1/-1 and then there's my STR modifier and my Base Attack bonus... I think. See, 2E was so much simpler. ;)

Party isnt that evil. Just has evil member(s).

Pla what you want.

Cutlass and saber are pretty much the same weapon as scimitar, yes.

Are there level XP adjustments for humans if they pick a second class while levelling up? I don't remember if they had a free pick or if it is only some of the demi humans who have a preferred class they can pick without penalty.

I *would* love to add a few ranger levels at some point. Plays nicely with the character theme and you can never get a bow that is too big

Nope, humans are always considered to have their highest-leveled class as their favourite, so as a rogue/ranger you'll never run into an XP penalties.

Awesome

Of course, we may have so many deadly traps of DC40 or some such thrown our way that we'll be screwed if not maxing out in rogue abilities. Sneaking is my favourite pastime though.

Picked my feats and weapons. Working on my skills now. Picking some for flavour more than anything I expect to use.

As for languages, Common is obvious. After that, probably going with Elven and Orc or Goblin. Mind you, since we'll soon be in Ravenloft... well, who knows what they speak there.

I picked Pirate Talk. ;)

And most of my character is finished. I could use some help with what's left though. Damn. I don't remember 3.5 being this difficult when I made a rogue for dousi's campaign. I've been sitting here missing the simplicity of 2E.
