Best advice...

Post by Amorghost » Thu Jan 01, 2004 6:18 pm

I am planning to send a copy of the game to a friend in England, however it would be wise(as he rarely goes online and never for patches and stuff) to include any essential patches and stuff. Most importantly,I need to include any possible help to prevent the slowdown bug,and the freezing bug which I encountered often enough. In fact, these bugs are why I never bothered to finish the game. And the fact that it gives a loading screen very often.

http://torment.db-forge.com/ has some info in regards to this under Tips & Hints.

Beware of pop-ups though (I know I used to get a lot there after the move to db-forge but have them turned off now so it may have gotten better) . No pr0n or anything, just a lot of them (like one each page or something)

For the slowndown bug the patch 1.1 fix it. If this won't work try a Full Install and close all programs in background.

If he has xp, don't forget to tell him to make the exe compatible to win98.

If you're sending him the dual jewel version it's already 1.1

I don't think so...anyway my one's a copy,so Idon't know. But the fact that it *does* have the slowdown bug means it's probably not the dual.

By dual jewel he means the 2CD version, as opposed to the 4CD version.

Tut - and to think that your friend could go and get himself a nice boxed copy of the game, by bidding here or here or here or here or here.

Well.... Old topic, but I`m pretty shocked. In my country (Poland) the legal copy of Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale and some other great games are available for 20 PLN (which is around 4,5$ - 5$)... At Amazon PS costs 38$...

Unfortunately it is professional polish edition, so you wouldn`t be able to play it, but I just don`t understand why it`s so horrible difference in prices... BTW - anybody knows where can I find some mods to this great game?

The difference in price is probably due to different currency values.

Well in my country it is near impossible to find a copy of this game anywhere, in fact I don't think it was officially released here and i would willingly pay lots of money for a copy

You might also search for that.
