I would, though I don't have my rule books anymore. Can I create a character online somewhere?

yup, no problem, if you head over to the ref thread in the rpg forum theres a link to a good site of all the free 3.5e content; which ill post here while im busy anyway :D d20srd

You can pretty much create anything from that, and if you want from the first four 'complete' books (which arent on that site). Looking at how things are going you can create a fourth lvl character and post it in the ref thread.

There are a few minor changes to standard d&d settings, mainly being some races being divided into subraces, a different language system, and another pantheon, though of course the latter two arent very important if you're not into them. You can take a look at the handbook and atlas posted in the ref thread, or scroll down on the first page for some explanations on this and a little extra stuff on how things go. Or just ask of course.

Oh and btw, dont worry about that customary first quarter of my BG1 ironman games, i just started number 16, and a late crossbow bolt messed up the quest :).

Too funny. I just saw an Amazon.com ad on the site for IWD. $49.99 USD new, $26.99 used.

Who the hell would pay $50 for IWD? When it came out new, sure. Now? Ha!

Well.. I knew some odd individuals once who were very prissy about first editions of comics and 'stuff' like it meant something. Some people are very weird; who would buy IWD at all??

I think they reissued all the BIS games. I thought it would be a compilation though, didn't seriously expect them to try and milk the cow right from the start again

They did it to Fallout too.. and Bethsoft wasn't too happy about it as they believe that Fallout is now Fallout 3. I think that Bethsoft would like everyone to think that Fallout and Fallout 2 is kinda like Fallout 3 with an isometric view and poor graphics and not the other way around. Unfortunately Herve Caen is a real jerk, but hey.. it's America over there, if they pray and bullshit enough it might work.

You're forgetting Herve is a prick from France that bought IPLY for one reason only, to liquidate it to pay off his creditors for his bankrupt French company.

But Bethesda does indeed blow. FO3 may have looked pretty but that was about it.

FO Vegas, by Obsidian has potential. At least the right people are working on it.

I just worry that Obsidian will try to stay in character with the predecessor like they usually do.. with BioWare games, because they are in the same tree, but on different branches.. Bethsoft and Obsidian are not in the same tree.. Bethsoft is sitting inside a tank blowing all the trees away.. And they hate bananas.. no monkey-business.

I think Bethesda is a good modmaker...*roll eyes* But a joke to the genre of roleplaying, Obsidian is just a shitty company trying atleast but usually fucking up or getting screwed over by stressy companies like Lucas Arts.

I'm still in a slow going multiplayer game of iwd with how and totl with my room mate, playing about once a week. Currently we're somewhere inside the elven tower.

We're playing with four chars, i have an elven fighter/mage/thief and a human fighter about to dual class to mage, while he has a dwarven fighter/cleric and a human bard. Its fun going, i actually didnt remember iwd dropped that many random treasure.

Ah, nostalgia

I must admit, the last time I played IWD (about a year ago?), I cheated in the battle against the duplicating wizard in the crystal tower. It was just too frustrating. The end battle however is easy compared to that one. Especially with the add-ons, as the extra xp and levels really makes a difference.
