Majestic (A Poem)

Majestic

by Tim Freerksen

War never changes

Whether or not we’re in cages

We might as well get on a waiting list for a casket

Though I refuse to go home in those darn baskets

While we wait people die

While we act people die

All I want to know is… why?

This is all pointless and lame

And sooner or later someone will get a tendon maimed

Sooner or later we will all die

But soldiers don’t just die they get killed

That’s why the only heroes in war are the ones who prevent it
