Issue 16 - At long last!

Post by the paperboy » Wed Sep 22, 2010 2:30 am

After an absence of several months, the Winterwind Papers are back.

It's a nice visual and textual treat that starts with the cover, moves to the editorial and continues right on through to the staff page.

Everything is new! And in gorgeous colours with cute puppies too!

I do so loathe being the first to post in any of the ezine threads. Mind you, the forums are at their slowest right now, we haven't had an issue out for nine months, it's only been a day since the email went out, we had a member on yesterday, after the email, that hadn't posted in six years and Michael, our newest contributor did post in Jez's article thread so...

I just want to say that Lina did a fantastic job with the cover and puppies curled up in guitar cases on staff pages are cool.

Finally got the time to sit down and read without being interrupted by anything other than my glass of red wine :)

I tried to start reading it the other day, but had to give up halfway through the "the re-cycle of life piece". Too many pressing issues hanging over my head at the time to focus.

I have to start the reading as of yet as well, good idea, that glass of wine to accompany it.

In any case, let me start with commending the backgrounds of the cover and the editorial, very nice.

And something strange is coming to mind, which is mentioning Partick Thistle FC to Michael S Collins, and being amazed if i'm right.

So dousi, had that glass of wine and a chance to read the issue yet?

I realise it's been a while since we've put one out but I know we'd all enjoy more feedback than from just each other and Gorth. :)

Which reminds me... anybody but me been promoting this issue? ;)

Well, this was a pleasant surprise. Turns out our own angry, and sometimes sentimental, young Lord sadness has a link to Winterwind in his sig on another forum. Hope the rest of you are doing your bit. Lord sadness isn't even a contributor or moderator. ;)

Beauty!

By the way, quite enjoyed the shark poem. Gave me a good smile.

Thanks! I tried to sell it as a childrens poem long ago, unfortunately, the Editor got back to me and said it would go over the heads of the intended audience!

Yes, I think you mentioned that in the thread for Jez's article. And I'm forced to agree. That would be way over the heads of most children. Still a brilliant read though.

Hmm... now if only the other threads for this issue had as many replies as the generic "cover/editorial/staff page" thread. ;)

Doh... do we have something like an "official" link? I seem to remember some nice links with summaries of the content way back :(

Well, there isn't an official link, no. And I gave up on using the staff forum ages ago as no-one was replying but... You're a pretty smart cookie, Gorth. I'm sure you could come up with one. ;)

I just use a "The *insert season* Issue of the Winterwind Papers is now online!" with a link to the site's home page. As I recall, you and Spider used to use a sig link containing the names of each article. Either way is fine. Just please do link to the home page of the site, not the cover page of the issue. And for anyone else that wants to link us somewhere, a sig or a post somewhere else... *hint hint*

I'm also happy to say that we've been getting some traffic from Lord sadness's sig link, and he made a post on another forum for us. And I don't think he's even read the issue himself yet. :D
