I'm not seeing the Star Trek-esque bit, William. At least not visually but that's just going by the screenshots. I may have to check this out just to see if I concur. ;)

I played this, nice to see you reviewing it!

But I cannot agree!

This game is repeatitive in a way where every random event seem to be the same, the enemy seem to always out manouver you or use tactics that you have no counter for and when I wish to explore the galaxy and learn more I have to stress about it. Not a big fan of FTL :( I wish I was!

Really good point! You have different stations on the ship with 'weapons' and 'shields.' In turn, you target the enemy's subsystems with various weapons. You can also beam aboard the enemy and assault them in hand-to-hand combat. Sometimes you battle around a burning star that flares into your ship, or maybe you can manage to vent a pirate ship and suffocate all of them!

The game manages to capture ship to ship battles on a level of Star Trek.

Heck, I bought this game a long while ago. I think I need to give it a go. Sort of the "cerebral" version of Gratuitous Space Battles :)

I hope you meant aesthetics and not ascetics ;)

If it's in the article I edit it. And if it's in the article, I should have caught it.

Seriously, I need 'ascetic' fixed before I can link this anywhere. How do we do that?

Tell me where is it and wait for me to get home from work? You don't seriously expect me to ctrl-f to find it, do you? :P

EDIT: Fixed. Link away.

It's just one of those words... nothing but trouble with it :P

I think I prefer "good looking" rather than aesthetically pleasing.
