The Plea

The Plea

by Dan J. Kuisma

Oh, sweet darkness
Embrace me, as you’ve embraced
Thousands by thousands before me
Greet me warmly, Black Messiah
As I cross thy threshold
Kiss me gently, eternal king
As I bow before thee
Hear my soft spoken plea, my grace:
Release my accursed soul
From this mortal cage

Oh, sweet darkness
Let me feel thy black caress
As thy maggots feast upon my soul
Quench their indelible hunger
With my wretched soul
And I shall rest forevermore
In a never-ending slumber
Under merciful soil
