I Don't Speak French... by John Davies
We have a wonderful article from a new contributor, John Davies, about the music of French singer/songwriter, Mylene Farmer.

It's a great piece and her music, and videos, are well worth checking out.

Thanks ever so much for the excellent article, John.
I hadn't heard of Mylene Farmer until reading this prior to putting your piece up on the site. Quite naturally, I went and watched some of her videos online. Don't understand a word of her lyrics since my last French class was about 20 years ago but the mood of the music, especially coupled with the videos, was more than enough to keep me watching/listening. So thanks for the introduction to her work.

It's a great piece by John (hopefully the first of many) on an artist I'm sure many of us are only hearing about for the first time. As such, perfect Winterwind material, I'd think.

I remember listening to her quite a bit in my younger days. She was quite popular in Europe. Might have coincided with MTV being young and actually showing music videos. She had the looks and the voice to mesmerise people. It also helped keep my french a bit up to date (a lost cause as it turned out). Of course, with titles like 'fudge them all', not a lot of translation is necessary, you just need to listen to the mood projected.
