A great piece, John, and we're glad to have you back again.

And it's an interesting hobby indeed. It's amazing how open, approachable and friendly some celebrities can be.

It's a pleasure to be back and I'm glad you enjoyed the article. It really is a great hobby. I hope that my piece might encourage someone else to try their hand at it.

Bah! I turned the guest posting on for guests! Michael used to do this all the time too. That's it! As soon as I remember how I turned it on I'm turning it off! :D

A splendid read, John. And a hobby I can sympathise with, having received a similar photo / autograph combo from Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor sometime in the mid-1980s.

I certainly hope letter writing - by which I mean handwritten letter writing - never goes away.

Well, I'm incredibly bad at writing letters and communication, but this article did prompt me to finally write (and post!) a few that had I'd been putting off for ages (one of which was linked to John's hobby, in a roundabout way). So thanks to him for that prompt.

Thanks for all the comments here. Jez - was it the BBC postcard of Colin? I loved that series of cards they gave to the cast. Michael - have you any update on your journey to the letter writing side?
