WW: You traditionally did the first edition covers for Weis & Hickman's Dragonlance series yet you did not do the covers for their War of the Souls Trilogy. Can you tell us why?

LE: They didn't ask me :)

WW: Tell us a little about Sovereign Stone. What is it, how did you get involved and is there anything planned for the future?

LE: Sovereign Stone was an idea for a story that I had. I was friends with Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman at the time and I basically gave it to them to write however they wanted. The games were a spin off of the story. A company called White Silver Publishing is working on some new game projects for Sovereign Stone as we speak.

WW: Will there be future episodes of the Fallen on your website?

LE: I can't say for sure, but I would like there to be. Hopefully if I can continue to do more of own work, I will have the time to work on projects like the Fallen and possibly even more Snarfquest.

WW: When illustrating, how much freedom do you have in your work versus the publisher telling you what the picture should look like?

LE: Not nearly as much as I'd like to have. It varies greatly on each project.

WW: Has a publisher ever asked you to redo a painting? If so, why?

LE: Yes, once years ago. The publisher and I could not get through the preliminary drawing phase. The art director kept changing his mind, and after redoing it numerous times, we both got mad and I got a kill fee for the project.

WW: Have you ever refused to paint a project for some reason?

LE: Yes, either the subject matter was so stupid I would just wind up with a big stupid painting, or it was morally questionable.

WW: Tell us about first time you sold one of your paintings for a profit. Did you do anything to celebrate?

LE: Well I sold a few small paintings while I was in college for maybe fifty
