approached me at a skatepark and initiated conversation. How often do you go out and about to a basketball court or football field and have a professional player come up to you and say "Hey man, you play? Me too." It simply doesn't happen.

There are numerous times when a rider had a broken part and another rider helped the person in need. This, again, is not limited to casual riders. If you venture to a skatepark there's a good chance that someone there has been helped out by a pro-rider.

A person's skill level really doesn't ever come into play when joining the BMX family. What matters is that you share a similar passion for being on your little bike. As long as you have a progressive attitude you'll find yourself in acceptance among the family. If you consistently badger other riders about their parts or their skill you will find that others will attempt to evade your company.

Cyclists, in all cycling subcultures, function similarly I'm sure. They go beyond just the riding social circle and start to blend and mesh with your everyday life. Your riding friends

become your real friends. The opportunities that others bring to your cycling life are astounding. Whether it's just a nice, peaceful ride to enjoy a friendly conversation or some personal advice, or having someone help push your body to its limits for a great work out, cycling will aide you.

The money you can save from riding a bicycle alone should be enough for you to stop at your local shop and get fitted with something that suits you. Think of the fuel money you'll be saving or if you take it to the extreme; the lack of car payments and auto insurance. With the exercise it adds to your daily life it potentially reduces a variety of health risks. Tell your significant other to pick up the hobby his or herself. The former mentioned benefit can add extra years to your lives that you could be spending together. Life is best when sharing it with someone. It's even better when you have something to bond to that companionship.

Simply put; after you introduce a bicycle into your life it will change and it will change for the better.
