He finished his meal and enjoyed a cup of coffee afterwards, and then he went back to work. His lunch-break lasted 45 minutes on the minute and he resumed work immediately.

Now, just because John Walker didn't care to make any social connections with the people he worked with it didn't mean he didn't notice them.

Actually, he had made a habit out of observing them during the breaks to learn what kind of people they were. Not that he really wanted to know, but he figured it would be useful to know in case he had to work with them on some case or something like that.

He didn't think much about most people on the office, but there was one he had a special interest for. Not that he'd ever admit it to himself, but Mr. Seaman's secretary, Rachel Simmons, was a woman he could see himself falling for. He hadn't, but he could if the circumstances were right. Not that there was any real chance of that happening. He wasn't going to try anything and she had never shown any interest for him, at least not that he had noticed. Things aren't always what they seem though.

Rachel was a rather tall woman with straight brown hair. She was in her early forties and slightly overweight. The truth was she had had her eyes on Walker for some time now. She didn't know what, but there was something that made him interesting. Maybe it was the way he always kept to himself or maybe it was something else. It didn't't matter what, but there definitely was something.

She had realized by now that he would never invite her out and since she was somewhat old fashioned in her beliefs, feeling it was the man's duty to make the initial move, she knew nothing would happen and had accepted that.

But today, with a small push from Stylox and Gazzt, she decided that once in her life she was going to take the initiative.

During the late break, Ms. Simmons approached Walker where he was sitting with his coffee. "I overheard Mr. Seaman yelling at you this morning," she said as she was sitting down. "Do you mind if I sit down by the way?"

"No, not at all, feel free," John said with a polite smile.

"Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I felt he was wrong in yelling at you, you've never been late before and accidents can happen." She smiled back at him.

"Well, I was late so I guess I deserved something, but maybe he was a little out of line."

John didn't really feel comfortable talking bad about his boss. After all, he was the boss and should be treated with respect. Bud he had been out of line, so maybe it was okay just this once.

"I think he was a lot out of line, but that's just my opinion. I really felt bad for you when he started yelling, but that's not why I came over here."

"Oh?" John said, raising his eyebrows.

"No, I was more wondering if you'd care to have dinner with me tonight?"

To say that John was shocked is quite an understatement. He had never expected anyone to ask him out, even less that that person would be Rachel Simmons. He felt his throat going dry and he didn't know what to say.
