Through Your Tears

Sat down by the window,
looked over to my bed,
I haven’t bothered to make it yet.
I can still see you there
like you were the night before,
before those angry words
sent you walking out my door.

Look up to the calendar
that’s hanging on my wall,
I’ve lost track of the days
since the last time that you called.
Someone told me once
that all good things must end
so you’ll just have to forgive me
if I keep trying to pretend.

And oh, I’ve got those feelings once again,
seems like I’ve been here once or twice before.
You know it hurts and I know that I should go
but something keeps me coming back for more.

Toy with the untouched food
on my plate.
I lay my head on the table
and curse the hand of fate.
Through your tears you said
you’d never be mine.
How much wine did I drink
trying to change your mind?

And oh, I’ve got those feelings once again.
I think I’ve heard this once or twice before.
I know it hurts and you say that you should go
but something keeps you coming back for more.

And oh, I’ve got those feelings once again,
seems like we’ve been here once or twice before.
You know it hurts and we both know we should go
but something keeps us coming back for more.

acoustic rock, Key of D minor
Vox, acoustic L & R, bass, piano, drums

There are few things I like about this one. Musically, it's a good, driving acoustic piece. Lyrically, I like the imagery of the verses and the change of "I" to "you" to "we" through the choruses. It's a simple story of two people caught up in something they know they shouldn't be and neither can seem to step away.
