Suspended Disbelief
Lyrical selections from the 1990s
Today (You Would Be Gone)
Perfume lingers in the air,
I can still see the smile in your eyes.
The morning sun comes creeping in,
I bury my head, too lazy to close the blinds.
How was I to know,
yeah how was I to know
today you would be gone.
Lying here alone,
I stare blankly at the wall,
the images of last night
forever etched in my mind.
I still want to know,
yeah I still want to know
just where I went wrong.
I'd put a candle in the window
if I thought it'd bring you home.
Yeah, I'd put a candle in the window
if I thought it'd bring you home.
I still want to know,
yeah I still want to know
just where I went wrong.

A fiction, written for the sake of having a ballad for my old band to play. It's included here because I've always liked the lyrical imagery and the story it tells. And because I don't write in C very often and this turned out quite well.
