Will 2010 be...

Better than 2009
Worse than 2009
About the same
Meh. Wake me in 2012

Suspended Disbelief

Lyrical selections from the Church Benches and Rain

Humbled

Yours was the softest whisper
carried on the warmest breath
and in the dying light
of a guttered candle
as an old adagio played
we became the song
and when you exhaled
I tasted your life
and breathed your soul.

How can I forget these things
when the flesh remembers
impossible sensations
feelings beyond words
the fragile tenderness
of a heartbeat shared
for yours is the simple grace
that holds me enthralled
and I am humbled.

But now, in the turning darkness
of the seasons
as the nights lengthen
I see you clearest
in the shadows of your absence.

For some scars never heal
and through comparison
love's colour becomes pallour
at the remembrance of pain
so if you are afraid
I will be brave enough for two
and it is for you I wait
as I wish upon
this star alone.

Lamenting ballad, Key of A
Vox, acoustic (capoed), strings

This song was very intimate for me on many levels. Lyrically it prose than the "typical" song. It was also inspired by something deeply personal. That places an additional expection on the song; is it worthy of the muse? I consider the lyrics amongst my best. The musics a simple solo acoustic accompanied by strings.
