Suspended Disbelief
Lyrical selections from the Church Benches and Rain
Vetėm
It's about 2:30 am
and I'm standing in the middle of some field.
I'm a little drunk and a little stoned
and I'm a hell of a lot alone.
There's mist around the base of the trees,
black branches clutching at a slate grey sky.
Cold winter rain wipes the tears from my face
and washes all the dirty snow away.
If I'd loved you less
would I still be alone tonight?
If I were a better man
would I still be unwanted?
There's no miracle or magic in the air.
There's no redemption or guiding light.
When words remain unspoken the right thing is never said.
Maybe I'm insane and you're a ghost inside my head.
Would you forgive me breaking a promise
if it means I keep another?
If I really needed you tonight
would you turn away?

Desolate driving acoustic, Key of A minor
Vox, acoustic, electric, bass, piano, cello, drums
I love talkin glong walks through the woods or along the river, espcially in the winter. This song attempts to capture a rather dreary night, weather and mood. I like the lyrics, the dirty snow and cold rain. Musically, it's an brisk acoustic piece in mostly minor chords.
