Oh my love hate for Blizzard

Post by Marcus » Wed Apr 17, 2013 10:39 am

I have disliked this overhyped studio in the later years.

Bioware is getting there to! With their big time fiascos of late but I had sincere fun with the Starcraft II campaign, Both the Wings of Liberty one and the Heart of the Swarm one. Whats happening with me? Am I getting older and less whiney, taking what I get or what? Or do Blizzard simply do quality games beyond Diablo 3 and WoW? Wait...thats just three games! I presume Starcraft II is a flagship for them right now! And I need to be less of a swearing apemonkey who look more positive on things.

Blizzard hasn't released a *qualilty* game in a long while now. SC2 was fun for a while, but the lore-LOLs commited by Blizzard are too egregious for me to really enjoy them.

Could you explain the lore-LOLs. Is that for SC2 or Blizzard's continuity in general
I have no time for flat characters why should I have times for flat people?

There's so many, do you really want a comprehensive list?

I'll start with one and we'll go from there, mayhaps.

Jim Raynor, SC1:

" Don't I? I'll se you dead for this, Kerrigan! For Fenix, and all the others who got caught between you and your mad quest for power!"

"It may not be tomorow, darlin', it may not even happen with an army at my back. But rest assured; I'm the man who's gonna kill you one day. I'll be seeing you."

Jim Raynor, SC2:

"I have never given up on you, Sarah! Don't give up on me now!"

Somehow in all that development time they spent on SC2 (which went were exactly, an 8 hours playtime campaign?) Jim Raynor transformed from a complete badass into a slobbering, alcoholic emo. Way to go, Blizz.

Well. I always said that Blizzard is overhyped and should dare do something new.

We should not even go in there and see what other companies do. Bioware anyone? "OPS! WELL HE IS ALIVE NOW" is something they do a lot in Dragon Age 2.

Diablo 1, 2 & the original Starcraft were awesome. Warcraft was really good as well, and World of Warcraft USED to be decent, but that was a long, long time ago. Nowadays... not so much, no.
bethesda is absolute proof of that.
The Elder Scrolls is one of the most overrated game series ever.

I still think Blizzard done some good things but tend to stick to what they know sells and I think they need to do something new soon.

Elder Scrolls....would do well to get more depth. So I agreee with Majestic on that one.

I think Blizz fired all the storywriting guys a while ago, or they left on their own. Gameplay wise everything they create is still a good deal of fun (well except maybe D3 endgame), but holy crap, they don't even bother with trying to come up with some form of plot nowadays.

Primordial Zerg my ass.
