playing BG1 again, but I want to take a break from the usual fightery types I play, so do you guys have any suggestions? I might even post the thing ala Dousi :look:

I am partial to rogues

Since ranged combat is king in BG1, how about a ranger? If you use that TUTU thing, you could even chose the Archer kit. Heck, you could even play an elf! :)

On the evil side, a dwarf fighter/cleric, since Viconia sucks donkey dicks. AND she's not a good cleric either.

Elven Fighter/Mages or Fighter/Mage/Rogues are nice too.

I will be going with tutu, since BG doesn't work very well on my computer without it, so kits aren't a problem.

Other than that, I like the idea of an evil elven F/M/R. I'd go with an evil Archer, but the stupid ADnD rules don't allow that :(

dual classed fighter/mages or mage/thiefs are my favorite i guess, but go ahead, do the Dousi thing ;)

You should go with Viconia just cause she is Drow and a female. The best mixture of drow. Not being a Drizzt. And Drow + Female + Cleric = Awesome

I take her along anyway, its obligatory to turn her to something more good aligned, like the nude dancing in the moon with a long sword and devine long silver white hair Eilistraee.

Right...

On an entirely different note, why do neither Vista nor Ubuntu like tutu all of a sudden :? It worked the last time...

So... I'm assuming that Vista has a compatibility mode then? So when I do eventually get a new comp (ME won't last for ever though I deserve recognition for making it last 9 years) it's nice to know I might be able to replay some old BIS games.

Fallout and Planescape? Any one tried them on Vista?

I haven't had any problems with Fallout, but PS:T has gotten progressively harder to play the further up the chain of Windows you go. Worked fine on 98, was a hassle on XP, and wouldn't work at all for me on later service packs. Maybe I should try it out on Vista, though I doubt it'll even install.

I feel like... I just don't get you guy some times.

Ls made his post about IWD2. So I felt nostalgic. Reinstalled and made it to Chpt V in two big sessions before getting bored.

Now, and for the past few days, I've had the urge to give BG another run... but then I'll get bored.

How do you guys sustain interest after all the play throughs?

Dont worry, i think its exactly the same with us, we just keep coming back, get bored somewhere, and come back again.

My iwd2 try is currently on hold as well, you dont play it for a week, forget what all the buffs were and it takes a while before you return. I guess i will finish that wizard party some time though, its tactics i can wrap around easier.

It's kind of a habit, really. And also an exercise in how badly you can break the game ;) But I doubt there will be any IE game for me in the forseable future. I managed to get BG to install on Ubuntu, but the graphics are all *i have potty mouth* up :?
