BG Series Sticky

Post by Joseph » Tue Dec 23, 2003 12:05 am

The Baldur' Gate Saga was:

Baldur's Gate, it's expansion, Tales of the Sword Coast, which is now out of print, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and the final expansion, Throne of Bhaal.

planet Baldur's Gate is a good resource and Mr Weimer has done some excellent mods.

Feel free to add more links. I just posted some basics to get started.

Also www.teambg.com.
They have produced a lot of the tools required to mod the game abd hosts a lot of mods.

and

www.forgottenwars.net
They host a lot of mods and provide forums for them. Though most mods here are Weidu mods and are linked to from his site.

and most importantly

www.baldurdash.org
Bugfixes and the likes that aren't covered by the official patches. Essential for your BG needs.

You should mention that there is also the Original Saga, which includes both Bg+Totsc on 3 cd's.

Baldur's Gate patches: http://www.bioware.com/games/baldurs_ga ... t/patches/

Tales of the Sword Coast patches: http://www.bioware.com/games/tales_sword_coast/support/

DO NOT install these patches if you have the Original Saga!

http://mikesrpgcenter.com/index.html have a excellent walkthrough with all the sidequests, items and NPCs on both Bg1 and Bg 2. It also have a nice map feuture that will give info on what all the different areas has to offer you.

Of course you should finish the game once at least before you look at this homepage, but then it is good to use it to make sure that you have done all that there is to do in the game...

Hmm two advices from me own problems i come across everytime:

Manual Uninstallation:
deleting the BG folders leaves some registry entries on your computer which prompt the BG2:SoA installer to try and keep uninstalling your game, instead of installing it.
I keep experiencing this under windows XP servicepack 2 (and my own laziness with respect to uninstallers)
To remove the registry entries, do the following (in "regedit"):
- remove the keys "BG2Main.exe" and "bg2ep202.exe" from "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\"
-remove the keys for your language under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\"
English: {B8C3B479-1716-11D5-968A-0050BA84F5F7}
French: {43D4C77E-4339-11D5-96E7-0050BA84F5F7}
German: {5B09F344-4406-11D5-96E8-0050BA84F5F7}
Italian: {C3817924-440B-11D5-96E8-0050BA84F5F7}
Spanish: {68F40945-449D-11D5-96E9-0050BA84F5F7}
-remove the above stated directory for your language in the hidden folder "Installshield Installation Information" in your "Program Files"; also there, remove the following folder matching with your language:
English: {8DAE4336-2B71-11D4-9A6C-006067325E47}
Other Languages: {5E30BDEB-9307-11D4-9AE0-006067325E47}
-of course also remove any files in your Bladur's Gate 2 directory under "Program Files/Black Isle"
[taken from Bioware's FAQ]

Using the CLUAconsole
to enter the debug mode of Baldurs Gate 2, for instance to retrieve your Daystar you managed to drop in Haer'Dalis' astral prison put the line "Debug mode=1" in you "baldur.ini" file in you Baldur's Gate 2 directory. The line (without quotes) should be placed under program options.
To start the console hit Ctrl+Spacebar in your BG2 game.
You can now use commands like *CLUAconsole:CreateItem("SW1H31")* which will create a Daystar in your inventory, (Without the *s, but do pay attention to the capital letter and quotation marks), if the item you create is stackable you can add a comma and an integer after the item between the parentheses.
For lists of items you can create, or how to use commands like creating monsters or teleporting to areas (for either debugging, cheating or experimenting) see the sites listed above, like Sorcerer's Place and Gamebanshee.

some of the links in the above section do not work anymore, i'll send a pm to boris soon pointing out which ones i think, at least here is the new location of the gibberlings three tweaks:
http://www.gibberlings3.net/

^ Good idea. Also, this reminds me that I've yet to finish that mod sticky for the various BIS games.
I do bugger-all, but that's OK;
I sleep all night, and I read all day!

Really??? I was wondering who was supposed to do that and thought it was... not me. :wink:

Seriously, funny you should post this because Gorth and I were talking about the guest traffic here the other day and the majority of guest traffic (aside from my personal cyberstalkers) comes from search engine results for the BIS games.

Huh. Maybe we should do up something "proper" for the stickies.
