...thus came my user name
what brought you to the username you are using / from where stems your username
the origin of the name you use on these forums
a thread so newcomers can know who they're dealing with, if only a little
just noticed we don't have one of these (probably because most of us already know each others, still this might be fun for new people)
here's mine:
i killed some welsh person took his id, switched the pic and some details on it, got a passport, moved to a different country, then moved some more, and now i just use it everywhere, i can't even remember what my name was before*
*(my username is just my name, after i've had enough of creative names)

Mine is my 3rd grade nickname and part of my birthday (January 17).
I have no time for flat characters why should I have times for flat people?

Evolution.
From Aleksander(my real name, surprise!) to Alek and Sander. Alek still remains as the thing most of my friends and other people call me. Sander then became Pander(Pather in english) and then to Panda. The 'man' part is my own doing, because it's cool. Panda then became Pandapenis, which then evolved to either Panda or one-eyed trouser snake.

Somewhere around ten years ago, I don't know when exactly, I needed a series of names for a PlayByMail game. I had to name a country leader plus 15 generals. I started out using names taken from books but got dissatisfied with that after a while. Nowadays, if I need a name, I just have a mindburp and a name comes up. *)
There was however a time inbetween, when I was just learning the mighty art of mindburping. In that time the name Ruathavril was created. The name falls apart in two parts. Ruatha, the first part, was taken from a place in the series The Dragons of Pern. The second part was avril and is meant to mean "son of" just as the russians have names ending in ~vitch, the dutch ~sen, scandinavian ~son etc. Together they made ruathavril.
Generals at the time included names such as eosinovril, biotinovril, nicardipinavril etc..
The name Ruathavril got transferred from game to game, mostly as cleric, druid or ranger. He is invariably an elf and his full name has become Ruathavril Tarandrir Pelotilar. When I started out on the internet, it was a logical move to adopt the name as alias.
*) Mindburping = trying not to think while coming up with a random name. It is somewhat directed by the entity that the name is invented for

Username?
Last year in computer science class, we got demoted to the highest floor in an old building with huge stairs, humongous steps...by the time I beat the last step...every day...noone had any doubt who just entered the floor...Darth Vader a.k.a. Jan The Man, which came to be Janmanden for my email-address the last 6 years too.
I was always last to join class every morning and they always kept the door open... Anyway I was pretty cool about it...i.e. is.
Besides who can actually remember anything about multiple usernames and passwords, I know...from experience that I can not...I just stick with the same.
