Finally some good news
I am starting a children's RPG with the kids from church. They wanted and I kid you not: A Marvel superheroes game mixed with Doctor Who. I am going to try my hardest to make that happen.
I have no time for flat characters why should I have times for flat people?

Well Fluffy, that's it. I'm going to appeal to the higher ups in the church. Sorry, can't have you filling the heads of those kids with devilsh, satanic nonsense like RPGs.Fluffy17 wrote:I am starting a children's RPG with the kids from church.

Requested: One Mark V ECM unit, 1000 km of Fullerene cable, one low-yield nuclear warhead.

Apparently majestic didn't hear that the church reversed its stance. While in the 80s D&D and other rpgs were all about devil worship and blah blah blah the Vatican did say a couple years back that they now see it as a good tool for young people for developing critical problem solving skills and for honing their creativity. I was shocked when the church said that. Something reasonably intelligent from a dark ages agency is not the norm.
As for blending superheroes and Doctor Who... weird.

Not all Churches have heard the good news with regard to Doctor Who, though: The Ten Doctors Versus The Ten CommandmentsJoseph wrote:Apparently majestic didn't hear that the church reversed its stance. Re: Finally some good news
Well in the 70s a woman by the name of Mary Whitehouse famously described Doctor Who as: "Teatime brutality for tots." and that it "contains some of the sickest, most horrible material"
I can go on and on about her and her views that even myself as a conservative would raise an eyebrow at. But my pastor loves Doctor Who and his wife's British so I have that going for me. Apart from the fact his kids like David Tennant and Matt Smith, two of my least favorite doctors. But hey I ordered the book and all now

I'm pretty sure Jo and I knew who Mary Whitehouse was before you even knew what Doctor Who was but... thanks for the info.
Good your pastor loves the show, though.
And what book did you order?

Re: Finally some good news
I ordered the 2009 Doctor Who RPG Adventures in Time book. Wanted the 2012 one but that was too rich for my blood.
Overall I don't really care which version as I doubt 8-12 year-olds care about power gaming so any errata wouldn't matter on that level.

That's... well... old. Very old.
Still fun to read though.

Indeed. When I read it I thought I'd travelled back in time to the 1980s.

I cannot express how much I adore trite, gift-wrapped religion. Some churches should just have signs saying: "Jesus - $4.95 a lbs"

Re: Finally some good news
For the most part, religion is fine. It is what it is. The lunacy of some of the people in those religions... like, oh, gee, my landlords... I still find it alternately amusing and disturbing that they think a known fraud faith healer, TB Joshua, is legit. They believe people are possessed by demons and must be saved by him. He has a TV show which they watch... people rolling around on the floor, "possessed" while he exorcises the demons and then it's all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. And they really, really believe that swill.

Re: Finally some good news
Well here's the team that's been finalized we have:
The Tenth Doctor
Captain Jack Harkness
Donna Noble
We are going to be on Judoon ship to rescue Harry Sullivan because well, he's an imbecile and I want to introduce these kiddies to the classic series darn it. And yes I know Jack is gay and all that but the kids don't so for them it's like playing Han Solo.
