Russia was humiliated in their home country and didn't even make the medal round. Canada beat the USA by a score of 1-0. Hardly a blow out game by any stretch of the word. And while Crosby was a whiner when he first entered the league, as a teenager, he's matured.

And as for Sweden vs Canada for the gold, your national hero, Mats Sundin, was interviewed yesterday and predicts Sweden will lose. :P
I will say it out front too. Sweden will lose. And Sundin was not much of a hero to me. more of an asshole when he said no to Malmö IF :(

I do not think we win. I hope we raise up to the challenge and send Canada home crying but it looks bad.

Boohoo. Do you know why those refs were chosen? Because of the refs available they have the most experience working high level games such as international competition and NHL playoff games. :P

I do agree that the IOC kicking Backstrom out for an allergy medicine is utterly stupid and an embarrassment to the IOC. The NHL quickly issued a statement saying, essentially, the same thing and that it is not a banned substance according to NHL rules.

Back in Salt Lake in '02 Alain Baxter was disqualified and had to return his bronze medal because he used an inhaler bought from local drug store, the very same brand that he always used and never tested positive with. Why?

The composition of the drug was different in the US where it contained an non-stimulant (!) isomer of meth.

While the appeal of Baxter was successful in lifting his ban, it was unsuccessful in lifting his disqualification - he was essentially cheated out of his medal by a certain Dr. Don Catlin who, funnily enough, regularily - as part of a committee - cleared drug positive US olympians on the grounds that common cold relieve drugs often contain inactive derivates of stimulants and that athletes can't possibly know about all of them (makes sense, in the end - would YOU know that your usual brand features a different composition in the US? Yeah right...).

Moral of the story: The C in IOC probably means corrupt. What a surprise.
Requested: One Mark V ECM unit, 1000 km of Fullerene cable, one low-yield nuclear warhead.

Purpose: Surprise party for foreign dignitary.

fudge it with the refs for now. I do not like it on a principle level but im a bigger man than that. Congratulations Canada even if you got Biebers bigger brother in the team :)

Also! Malmö IF heading for the qualifiers for the "Elite" series in Sweden! Elitserien. Or as its calle today! SHL! How creative no!

It happens. I don't know if the French team has many NHL players on their roster but the Canadian team is all NHL players who just played an 82 games season so... maybe our boys are a bit tired. :look:

Heh! Yeah well true but still France is a shit team. Canada should destroy them anyway of the week.

82 games, sure but they would have played without problems in the Stanley Cup. All Swedish players proclaiming they are "tired" is bullshitting to me 9 out of 10 cases.

Sweden was the only team to give Canada a challenge.
